We have the use case that for after office hours we have a different team that picks up alerts. This is for high availability systems that can’t wait till the next work day. We have phone/sms alerts for this team so they can handle those issues.
All the other alert channels also still work as the day team also needs to know something happened. That way they can do customer care and roll out for example a permanent fix. This is also a failsafe in case the night team hadn’t communicated this or for some reason the alert wasn’t tackled yet.
But we don’t have a way on an alert channel to only have it alert between certain hours. So the after office hours team also gets alerts during office hours. Which you don’t want, you only want actionable alerts to go through to this team.
And the same thing could be the case if you have teams per timezone. Where you want to have alert channels active/deactivate depending on which team is working.
So what we would like is the option to add a from and to time for which an alert channel is active. If you don’t enter values here the alert channel is always active.
